Starwars SOLO, Not so bad at First…

After such a disappointing run since JJ took control of Starwars, this film was really quite refreshing for the first half of the film. From a casting perspective i had only two issues Emily Clarke and Paul Betnay both who were terribly cast. Emily Clarke embodies Game of Thrones she is essentially a center piece for that epic and should not be seen here the part it self was also NOT necessary! This is Han's story we did not need a love interest nor did it need to include a girl to be politically correct can we not have a blokes star wars adventure.. Also put in perspective Han at least in my mind at this point in his life should be all about the business of trading and being a scoundrel and not madly in love.

So things are going really very well up until the point we are introduced to paul bettnay 1. because he is terrible but 2 because OMG emily clarke is back in the film and she has some how got her self into an influencial position within 3 years with the protagonist. However she is not just his play thing she has intricate knowledge of his business dealing and is essentially a major player now in the main plot. EPIC FAIl really such poor lazy story telling it beggars belief and is the kind of thing you find all over the other starwars junk we have had since JJ took over.

The entire second hald of the film is a waste of your life, Enzo Calrizian is not great and the Falcon changing of the guard also not handled well. TBH i am not sure that story line was even necessarry at this point what was the rush! IF they played their cards right and develped a real story this thing could have played out slowly over 3 films. But as usual it feels like these films cant exist without imedietly bringin in a familiar story line or on purposely linking in past story lines let the story breath!!

Wow truly this run of star wars films are going to go down as the worst possible iterations, the first film in 2015 Force Awakens as visually apealling as it was was the biggest let down of them all, yet is actually the best iteration. Rogue One had some excellent elements within it but again falls flat.

Where does it go from here for Starwars? I am not sure that it does. The original 6 films, including the mess that was phantom Menace are all far from perfect. If only JJ had had the balls to be as creative with the story line in 2015 as he was with the visuals then we might have at least one decent film from this period. We however DO NOT. Put this puppy to bed please Disney.
